Homicide suspect caught

Area Three detectives caught a major suspect, Kevin Pugar (a.k.a. Kevin Dugar), 29, of the 4600 block of N. Harding Ave., believed to be the gunman in the fatal shooting of Antwan Taylor, 27, of the 5000 block of N. Kenmore Ave. Taylor died of gunshot wounds to the chest on March 22.
Pugar's preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 20 in Br. 66 of Criminal Court on charges of murder in the first degree. Police believe the shooting of Taylor was gang related.
On March 26, Inside reported that shots were fired by an unknown gunman in the 4900 block of N. Sheridan Rd. at about 8 p.m. Another victim, a 25-year-old male, was hit in the lower and mid back and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was listed as being in critical condition. Taylor was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m.
According to a police spokesperson, the victims exited a building and began to cross to the west side of Sheridan Rd. An unknown black male wearing a dark puffy coat and dark pants approached the two victims and fired several shots with a 9 mm handgun.
Police cordoned off the area for over three hours. A maroon van was parked on the street and was photographed by evidence technicians along with other areas of the crime scene.
