Magnificent Mile puts homeless pets on display
PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) Chicago will hold its sixth annual Angels with Tails Walking Tour from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, along N. Michigan Ave. and Oak St. Such stores as Barneys New York, ESCADA, Neiman Marcus and Polo Ralph Lauren will showcase the sweet faces of Chicago's homeless puppies, kittens, dog and cats for adoption.
PAWS Chicago created the Angels with Tails adoption events to elevate the status of shelter animals and raise awareness for the pet overpopulation problem. At the inception of the Angels with Tails events six years ago, over 42,000 cats and dogs were being destroyed in Chicago. Today, this number has dropped to under 30,000 with public adoption events like Angels with Tails creating awareness and concern for the killing of shelter pets.
"We want everyone to see how beautiful and highly-adoptable shelter animals are," said Paula Fasseas, PAWS Chicago Founder and Chair. "It's very tragic that so many do not get a second chance at life."
Participating stores include: Arden B, Barneys New York, Billy Hork Galleries, Brooks Brothers, Camper, Elements, ESCADA, George Greene, Kate Spade, LaSalle Bank, Malo, Max Mara, Neiman Marcus, Nicole Miller, Paul Stuart, Polo Ralph Lauren, Saks Fifth Avenue, St. John Boutique, Talbots Kids and Water Tower Place.
Participating shelters include: Animal Adoption Associates, Cats-Are-Purrsons-Too, Chicago Canine Rescue, City of Chicago Animal Care & Control, Felines Inc., Greyhounds Only, Harmony House, Illinois Cocker Rescue, PAWS Chicago, Red Door Animal Shelter, S.T.R.A.E.S.
