The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) is not satisfied with the status quo when it comes to great events. LPCC has taken its annual event, The Best Picnic Ever, to the next level by not only changing the venue, but also adding special attractions never before seen at an LPCC event. In honor of the recently built Cubs Care Park at North Ave. and Halsted St., LPCC has decided to have the third annual Lincoln Park Picnic at the New City YMCA. Members of the chamber and residents of the Lincoln Park neighborhood will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of being at bat in this miniature version of Wrigley Field during the softball game that kicks off the beginning of the picnic. (Call the Chamber office to sign up for softball!)
The Lincoln Park Picnic will feature complimentary beer, sangria and wine, picnic buffet, softball, games and more. The event is open to LPCC members and all residents of the Lincoln Park community. The picnic is Tuesday, June 24, from 5 to 8 p.m., with the softball game from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The New City YMCA is at 1515 N. Halsted St. There is free parking available at the Truth School, just south of the YMCA at Ogden and Clybourn avenues. The cost is $20 with payment by June 20, and $25 with payment after June 20 or at the door. For children 10 and under, the cost is $8.
Featured attractions also include ComedySportz performers, who will be taking over the Dunk Tank, and a DJ who will be on hand to spin your favorite tunes while you feast on hot dogs and hamburgers hot off the grill. Also added this year is a new attraction called Aerospin; strap in for a topsy-turvy ride that will blow your mind!
