A bank was robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday, June 10, in the 700 block of W. Diversey Pkwy at 3:30 p.m.
The offender, a black male in his early 30s, 6' and 160 lb., wearing a Yankees cap, jean jacket, white T-shirt, light jeans, and white gym shoes, entered the bank and stood in line.
The teller said she was closed so he went to the next teller who said he would have to wait in line. He went to another teller and put eight quarters in her hand saying, "I need two solid singles." As the teller opened the drawer, the offender leaned over to display a black semi-automatic handgun with a yellow stripe, which was stuck in his waistband.
"Give me your large bills. I want only 100s and 50s," he demanded.
Witnesses said the offender started to speak loudly, "Give me more, I want more, more!"
"That's all I have," said the teller, giving him one $100 bill and three 50s and some 20s. The offender took the money and exited the bank.
Earlier that day, the offender was in the bank changing a $5 bill for five singles. The FBI is viewing the videotape of the robbery.
