The Hawthorne Neighbors and the East Lakeview Garden Club, representing the area bounded by Wellington Ave., Addison St., Racine Ave. and Lake Shore Dr., will be hosting the eighth annual Lakeview Garden Walk on Sunday, July 13, from noon to 4 p.m. The walk is open to the public.
Over 35 gardens will be featured, including gardens at the Hawthorne Scholastic Academy and the Nettelhorst School and Community Center. This is truly an old-fashioned neighborhood garden walk, not a judged competition, aimed at encouraging and showcasing different types of city gardens.
Admission is free! Designated starting points are Hawthorne Academy at School St. and Seminary Ave., 1027 W. Newport Ave., Nettelhorst School at Broadway and Melrose St., or 3024 N. Waterloo Ct. (between Clark St. and Broadway). All gardens will be marked with yellow and blue balloons and maps will be available at all garden sites. The walk will take place rain or shine.
