Dolly DeBlase, of Lincoln Park, Geraldine K. Fiedler, of the Gold Coast, and Martin E. Goldsmith, of Rogers Park, have recently joined Executive Service Corps of Chicago (ESC) as volunteer consultants to nonprofits, governmental organizations and schools.
DeBlase is already an active volunteer with several programs including Reach Out and Read and Opera in the Classroom, a program connected with Lyric Opera. She has also volunteered at Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital.
Fiedler was formerly Vice President of Human Resources at BorgWarner, Inc. She brings to ESC not only skills in human resources but also experience in organizational change and development. Fiedler's previous volunteer activities include mentoring minority high school students through Link Unlimited and visiting with children at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
Goldsmith joined the Edgewater Development Corporation in 1993 where he has served as Executive Director. His career also included 28 years with the City of Chicago's Department of Development and Planning. Working in the areas of transportation planning, research and community development, he ultimately headed up the Department's Neighborhood Planning Division. Goldsmith is a Board member of the Urban Land Institute and also served on the Board of the Chicago Association of Neighborhood Development Organizations until its dissolution in July 2002.
The Executive Service Corps of Chicago helps governments, nonprofits and schools improve their performance through consulting projects and performance coaching. Some 280 consultants selected from the ranks of Chicagoland's most accomplished business and professional people provide these services. Thanks to contributions from corporations, foundations and individuals, ESC is able to offer these services for a modest fee.
Founded in 1978, the Executive Service Corps serves some 160 clients each year. Today, ESC is the largest nonprofit provider of management and governance consulting services in the Chicago area. In 2002, the 25,000 hours volunteered by ESC's consultants were valued at over $4.1 million. For more information about ESC, visit www.esc-chicago.org.
