The Diversey Yacht Club, 2601 N. Cannon Dr., is a long-time ally of Chicago's disabled community and sponsor of the Judd Goldman disabled sailing program. Courtesy of the Yacht Club, handicapped children and young adults participating in the Welles Park Therapeutic /The Special Olympics Group will be treated to the annual day on the lake. The Club is hosting the Annual Children's Cruise, sponsored by Ald. Gene Schulter (47th), from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9. Diversey Yacht Club will be providing boat rides for approximately 50 children plus chaperones. Marine escorts will be provided by the United States Coast Guard, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Marine Unit of the Chicago Police Department.
After the boat ride, lunch will be served and every child will be surprised with a small gift.
