Police are looking for a black male in his mid 20s, 5’8” with a stocky build, brown eyes, short black hair and a medium dark complexion. The suspect is believed to have perpetrated a number of sexual assaults in the Wicker Park area, the most recent of which occurred in the 1300 block of N. Wicker Park Ave. on Saturday, July 19.
The female victim was walking on the sidewalk at 3:10 a.m. when an offender jumped from behind a fence and put the victim in a bear hug. He dragged the victim into an alley where he choked her and banged her head into a brick wall while sexually assaulting the victim. Police advise women to be accompanied by another person when arriving or leaving their residences in the early morning. Self defense classes for women in the neighborhood are being taught at Wicker Park, 1425 N. Damen Ave. For information call (312) 742-7553.
