Beer, brats, music & fun

On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27, St. Alphonsus will present its Third Annual Oktoberfest in the Festhalle. Located in South Lakeview, St. Alphonsus was founded by German immigrants in 1882 and continues to recognize its German roots by celebrating an authentic Oktoberfest in late September. Festival goers are treated to homemade bratwurst, the oom-pah of German bands, the music of Underwater People, activities for kids on Saturday, and of course lots of beer! Last year the event drew 3,000 people of all ages from the parish and the neighboring community.
St. Alphonsus Festhalle is located at 1429 W. Wellington St. The event takes place Friday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 11 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 11 p.m.
