'Friends for Life' Adopt-a-thon

On Sept. 20 and 21, the City of Chicago Commission on Animal Care and Control (ACC) will host its third Annual "Friends for Life" Adopt-a-thon at the City of Chicago David R. Lee Animal Care Shelter, 2741 S. Western Ave., from non to 7 p.m. each day. The goal of the event is to place 300 cats and dogs into new homes and to bring awareness to the ACC facility as a place for families to adopt a new pet.
New this year, ACC will make the "Friends for Life" Adopt-a-thon a citywide partnership by inviting other Chicagoland animal welfare organizations to participate and bring animals on-site for adoption.
With the idea of making a visit to the Adopt-a-thon a fun, family event, there will be music, refreshments for dogs and humans, educational animal welfare information and fun dog activities and demonstrations, such as dog training, dog agility, flyball and frisbee toss. For more information or to volunteer, call (312) 747-1406.
