Chicago police are looking for an offender who entered a small retail store in the 1800 block of N. Clark St. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and attempted to rob the clerk at gunpoint.
After fleeing the scene, the offender robbed a second victim of $215 in the 1800 block of N. Orleans St. at gunpoint. "Don't say anything," the offender said to the 31-year-old male victim at 12:10 p.m. as he walked on the sidewalk. The offender walked the victim back to his apartment where he made him get on his knees. "I need $220 to get my brother out of jail," he said. The offender went into the bedroom where he found $85 in cash, $90 in dimes, and $40 in nickels. The offender took a laptop computer, Olympus camera, binoculars, a number of CDs, a pair of deerskin gloves, a nylon jacket, and a cell phone. He put the proceeds in a gym bag and made the victim go to the basement where the offender took a Trek mountain bike and made his escape.
The bike was recovered in the 1800 block of N. Sedgwick St. sometime later.
The offender was described as a black male, 18 to 25 years old, 5'4" and 120 to 165 lb., with short black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and white and gold gym shoes. He has a tattoo on the back of his neck and was wearing two earrings in his left ear.
