Newly renovated Children's Memorial Park
The Lincoln Park Community Leaders' Breakfast Oct. 1 featured a park ribbon cutting celebration. More than 50 community leaders joined Children's Memorial Hospital as it unveiled its renovated park at the corner of Lincoln Ave. and Halsted St. The park, named after the hospital's founder, Julia Porter, was designed by landscape architect Don Halamka. It includes numerous newly-planted trees, bushes and flower beds and features a whimsical sculpture of children holding hands called "Circle of Peace."
Pictured from left are Michael Lufrano (Wrightwood Neighbors Conservation Association), Kim Klausmeier (Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce), Angela Garbot, Joseph Shacter (Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum), April Welch (DePaul University Center for Community Technology Support), Allan Mellis, Patrick Magoon (Children's Memorial Hospital), and Ald. Vi Daley (43rd).
