LPHS teachers jazz it up
There's a lot of talent at Lincoln Park High School, 2001 N. Orchard St., and it's not only students. Recently, the Tri-Tones, a jazz trio composed of LPHS teachers Gabrielynn Watson, Grace Jeong and Timothy Cooper, were selected as winners of a $15,000 prize at Teacherpalooza, sponsored by a local bank. A "Spotlight on Teachers Talent Competition" was part of the festivities held at Grant Park and attended by thousands of public school teachers from the city and suburbs.
Competitors went through a preliminary round from which the final 30 acts performing that day were chosen. The final winners were selected by the audience using applause meters. The prize money, which is given to the school, will be used in the Vocal Music Department to purchase much needed equipment and musical scores.
