The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago to present Ashton Anniversary

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sir Frederick Ashton (1904-1988), one of England's most beloved choreographers, the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago will present Ashton Anniversary at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., Feb. 11-22. Live orchestral accompaniment will be provide by the Chicago Sinfonietta under the baton of the Joffrey's Music Director and Principal Conductor, Dr. Leslie B. Dunner.
Ashton Anniversary opens with the charming, buoyant and pyrotechnical ice skating-inspired ballet, "Les Patineurs," to a score by Giacomo Meyerbeer, followed by the sculptured, cool modernistic beauty of "Monotones I & II," set to music by Erik Satie. The program concludes with the rousing farce "A Wedding Bouquet," which has the patter of Gertrude Stein with music by Lord Berners.
