TimeLine Theatre Company secures Public Place of Amusement License

\TimeLine Theatre Company has received its Public Place of Amusement (PPA) license from the City of Chicago's Department of Revenue, allowing the company to re-open the doors of its theatre at 615 W. Wellington Ave. to audiences, effective immediately.
TimeLine's production of Steven Dietz's "Paragon Springs," directed by William Brown, is performed Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., through March 28.
TimeLine's home, known as Baird Hall Theatre and located inside East Lake View's Wellington Avenue United Church of Christ, has housed theatre companies for more than 45 years. With unexpected action last November, Chicago's Department of Revenue cited TimeLine and several other small theatres for operating without a PPA license. The ruling forced the early closing of TimeLine's successful production of James Goldman's "The Lion in Winter."
In the wake of the closing, TimeLine worked closely with city officials and inspectors over the last two months to obtain the license. "We are happy to get back to business producing the top-quality shows that people have come to expect from TimeLine," said Artistic Director PJ Powers. "Our home at Baird Hall Theatre is an important and historic space, showcasing some of Chicago's most innovative and provocative productions over the last four decades. We look forward to furthering that legacy, and we are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support we received from Ald. Tom Tunney (44th), the League of Chicago Theatres, and most importantly, our loyal audience members."
Based on Henrik Ibsen's classic "An Enemy of the People," Paragon Springs is set in the Midwest of the 1920s. When one man attempts to expose a major water pollution scandal in his town, the community is faced with the economic and moral turmoil of setting things right.
