A century of sisterhood
Born 100 years ago on March 21, Eleanor Kowalke-Vitacek (left), a long-time Lincoln Parker, is now enjoying life at Lexington Health Care Center of Elmhurst. Her two sons, Jim (left) and Ken Kowalke, were born and raised in Lincoln Park.
The family lived on Wolfram Street. The boys both attended St. Alphonsus Grade School. Then, Jim went to St. Gregory High School, while Ken attended Lane Tech.
Eleanor's room-mate at Lexington Health Care Center is her older sister, 101-year old Florence Loewe (right). "Our grandmother would have been amazed to know that her two daughters have both lived to be 100 years old," says Ken Kowalke, "and that they are room-mates again."
