It?s time to write your Summer blockbuster

Before you hit the beach to relax and forget about doing anything until Labor Day there is one last opportunity to be a productive screenwriter. On Saturday May 8, The Screenwriters Group, 1803 W. Byron St., is hosting a screenwriting seminar and is looking for new and experienced readers, writers and storytellers to join their screenwriting program. Conceiving a dynamic story is one of the key elements in writing a successful screenplay.
The Screenwriters Group gives people the tools they need to develop a successful story. With schools in both Los Angeles and Chicago, The Screenwriters Group has a strong history of helping people develop market ready screenplays.
The seminar costs $20 and is for people who are looking to develop their writing skills and will take place from 10:00 am to noon at the school, 1803 West Byron St.. The seminar takes participants through the process of writing a clear storyline that help them turn their movie idea into a script.
The programs focus on the art of developing a successful screenplay from synopsis, to a full treatment, to a 120 page script. Writers learn story structure and how to create characters that drive the plot of their movie. The classes include written critiques and the opportunities to rewrite their scripts.
“The Screenwriters Group got me from an idea, to a script, to a sale. The company that bought my script was so impressed, they hired me to write another," said Alan Anderson, screenwriter of "Thin Ice" and "Souled Out.” Since 1993, the SWG has grown to be one of the largest independent screenwriting schools.
