The North Park Village Nature Center, 5801 N. Pulaski Rd., is celebrating the biodiversity of Chicago's backyard with its annual "City Wilds Festival" Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The two-day festival will feature guided tours of the Nature Center's natural habitat garden and 46-acre preserve and educational activities. The festival is an opportunity to learn about landscaping with native plants and how they attract wildlife. There will also be opportunities to purchase native wildflowers and grasses all weekend long. In addition, visit the Chicago Audubon Society booth to learn more about choosing the right seed and feeder to attract the birds you want.
On Saturday, Chicago Animal Care and Control's 30-foot long ANIMOBILE will be on hand for animal adoptions. From 1 to 3 p.m., the Springbrook Nature Center will display their birds of prey. See live raptors and owls and learn more about these amazing creatures.
On Sunday, the North Park Village Nature Center will educate guests about worms through its composting education program. Rhythm Revolution will entertain the audience at 1 p.m. with a drum performance in which the public can participate.
The festival is free to the public and no registration is required. For more information, call the North Park Village Nature Center at (312) 744-5472.
