Chicago welcomes return of top-ranked art festival

Fast worker
Performance artist Eric Waugh will be on hand July 9-11 painting live from his booth at the Magnificent Mile Art Festival.
For three fun-filled days, North Michigan Avenue will be transformed into an outdoor art gallery for the 13th Annual Magnificent Mile Art Festival. From Friday, July 9, through Sunday, July 11, nearly 200 of the nation's finest artists will showcase their work in a variety of media, including life-size sculptures, photography, original hand-crafted jewelry, pottery, ceramics, paintings, and more. Performance artist Eric Waugh will be on hand all weekend painting live from his booth at the Magnificent Mile Art Festival. Inspired by the music at the events where he exhibits, Waugh transforms blank canvases into finished art in an amazingly short time all while audiences watch. While strolling from booth to booth, festival-goers can enjoy the soothing sounds of nationally recognized musicians and tasty treats from an international food court. Show times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
The Magnificent Mile Art Festival was recently rated one of the top 100 art festivals in the nation by Sunshine Magazine, the art industry's leading publication, out of more than 10,000 art festivals nationally. The 13th Magnificent Mile Art Festival is a juried show and each participating artist was hand-selected to ensure a first-class festival with only the highest quality, original artwork.
Unlike a gallery or museum, a fine art festival such as this one offers art enthusiasts the opportunity to meet exhibiting artists in person; commission a specific piece; ask questions about techniques; learn the sources of their inspirations; and purchase fine works of art at affordable prices. All of the work on display is available for purchase, with prices ranging from $15 earrings to $50 prints to $20,000 sculptures—there is something for everyone.
The 13th Annual Magnificent Mile Art Festival will be located on North Michigan Avenue at the Chicago Tribune Tower opposite the Wrigley Building and adjacent to the NBC building, WGN and the Chicago River.
