Luther Memorial celebrates 107th Rally Day

Luther Memorial Church, 2500 W. Wilson Ave., will celebrate its 107th Rally Day on Sunday, Sept. 19.
This Luther Memorial event traditionally kicks off the beginning of Sunday School year and parents will be able to register children following the worship service. All are welcome.
Beginning with a worship service at 10 a.m., the festivities will include a number of events for both young and old. The service will be followed by a block party that will include food and games.
Luther Memorial is one of Ravenswood's oldest churches. The church's first sanctuary was located at 2120 W. Sunnyside Ave. and dedicated on Nov. 27, 1898, a little over a year after the 35-member church started meeting in a storefront near Seeley and Montrose avenues.
For its first 20 years, the church was The Ravenswood English Evangelical Lutheran Church and was the only English-speaking Lutheran church in Chicago. Today, Luther Memorial is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
