Victory Gardens mines 'The Family Gold'

Laugh at the antics of an aging thespian-patriarch and the complexity of his relationship with his wife and daughter in "The Family Gold," a new comedy by Annie Reiner, starring film, TV and stage star Harold Gould in his Victory Gardens debut. Gould (left) plays Ted Gold, once a great Shakespearean actor, and still the "star" of his family. At least that's how it looks to his wife, Ruth (played by Roslyn Alexander), and daughter, Dory (played by Julia Neary, right), who is struggling to make a family of her own.
Reiner challenges the mind and spirit, and tickles the funny bone, while following the Golds through the minutiae of everyday life, and exploring the bonds of family and the ghosts of the past. Victory Gardens Artistic Director Dennis Zacek directs. "The Family Gold" runs through Oct. 24 at Victory Gardens Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. Call the Victory Gardens box office, (773) 871-3000, for tickets and information, or purchase tickets at Ticketweb.com.
