Local Eagle Scout Project seeks to provide formerly homeless people with basics for home

A local Boy Scout, Rudolph Trejo III, is working on an Eagle Scout Project with the Lincoln Park Community Shelter. One of their main goals is to transition people from homelessness to living in an apartment. This transition takes time and once made, the new apartment dwellers need basic items to make their transition easier. Trejo is asking local residents to please donate items from the following list so the Scouts can compile kits to deliver in December.
Basic items:
Dinnerware service for four (dinner plates, cereal bowls, glasses, coffee mugs)
Flatware service for four (forks, spoons, knives)
Basic utensils (serving spoons, spatulas, can opener, cutting knives, veggie peeler, measuring cups and spoons)
Small cutting board
Basic cookware (skillet, saucepan, baking pan, microwave-safe Tupperware)
Bed linen: set of sheets (twin-size), blanket, mattress cover, and pillow
Towels: bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, kitchen towels
Wastebaskets (small ones for kitchen and bath)
Basic cleaning supplies (sponges, broom, dustpan, mop, mop bucket)
Optional items:
2-slice toaster
Small coffee maker
Salt & pepper shakers
Juice pitcher
Toilet brush set
Shower liner and hooks
Dish drainer and mat
AM/FM clock radio
Iron board & iron
Laundry bag
Donations are very much appreciated. If you would prefer, gift cards to Costco or Target or donations by check (made out to Boy Scout Troop 973) can be made as well. A group of Scouts will be going shopping to buy all necessary items. For more information, please call Rudolph Trejo III at (773) 327-5369.
