Established in the year 2000, St. Jude’s Auxiliary Board is a diverse group of men and women from all professions which gives Chicago residents a chance to help children battle all kinds of illnesses. Overseen by the Executive Board, the Auxiliary Board’s primary mission is to create awareness of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and to establish funds for children dealing with catastrophic illnesses so they can have a chance to live a long and fulfilling life.
Since opening in 1962, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has become internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, TN, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization.
