Vittum Theater celebrates first production

Vittum Theater's first production will be an adaptation of Louis Sachar’s "Sideways Stories from the Wayside School."
No one ever said school was going to be easy—especially if you have to climb 30 stories just to get to your classroom! (Wayside School was built with the classrooms stacked on top of each other, sideways, you see.) This year, the students from Wayside School must avoid hypnotic spells that turn pigtails into rattlesnakes, eating cookies that steal their voices, and of course being turned into apples by the meanest teacher in the school. This hilarious, high-energy show is a good way to kick off another school year—and you might think twice before biting another apple. Adapted by John Olive from the wildly popular series of books by acclaimed author Louis Sachar, this play is recommended for 4th grade and up.
While Vittum Theater annually serves more than 10,000 students at their acclaimed student matinees, "Sideways" marks the venue’s first self-produced show as well as its first weekend, family matinees, Nov. 13-14 and Nov. 20-21. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children; shows begin at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on vittumtheater.org, or by calling (773) 342-4141. The Vittum Theater is located at 1012 N. Noble St. Street parking is available, and the theater is easily accessible by CTA (transitchicago.com). Weekday matinees for large groups (schools, churches, community centers) are available. Please call (773) 342-4141 for details.
