The Theatre School at DePaul University in conjunction with Playing French will present "Rooms," by Philippe Minyana, translated by Danny Rohart, directed by John Jenkins. Performances will be Oct. 16 - 27 at the Athenaeum Studio Three, 2936 N. Southport Ave.
Largely a record of the author’s experiences growing up in an industrial French suburb where most residents are employed by a Peugeot factory, this contemporary play features six characters each telling their stories alone in a room. Using experimental language — a language without grammar and vocal rests — Minyana probes the depths of individual insecurity with a deftness that is ironic, entertaining and highly provocative.
Show times are Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 5 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10. Tickets for college students with ID and Theatre School Subscribers are $6. For more information and to purchase tickets, call the Athenaeum Box Office at (773) 935-6860 or visit theatreschool.depaul.edu or PlayingFrench.org.
