To raise money for pediatric cancer research at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Friends for Steven Pediatric Cancer Foundation will host the second annual Oscar Evening with Richard Roeper presented by Comcast Cable. The event will feature a performance by Redmoon Theater, complimentary cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music, dancing, live auction and a large silent auction. Richard Roeper, co-host of the nationally syndicated TV show "Ebert & Roeper," will serve as emcee for the event which will include a discussion of the upcoming Academy Awards. The location is the Sound-bar, 226 W. Ontario St., and the time is Saturday, Feb. 12, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Friends for Steven Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports research to help children and their families struggling with the disease and other solid tumor cancers. It was founded in 1997 in honor of and continuing in the memory of Steven Newkirk who was diagnosed with an aggressive pediatric cancer called neuroblastoma at age 5. To date, Friends for Steven has donated more than $1 million to support cancer research at Children’s Memorial Hospital. |
