Community Job Fairs

The Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Council is hosting several community job fairs for residents of North Town, West Town, Near West Side, Humboldt Park, Logan Square and Bucktown to inform the community about job opportunities available at the new Kohl's opening in May, at Elston Ave. and Webster St. In addition, LEED will describe free employment training services, and provide one-on-one consultation for job seekers.

Community job fair participants will attend a short presentation where LEED Council will provide job descriptions and requirements, and explain the Kohl's hiring process in detail. LEED Council will also describe the free training, customized for the Kohl's project, available for those who wish to brush up on their customer service and interview skills before applying to Kohl's.
Following the presentation, participants interested in pursuing a job with Kohl's will speak with a LEED Council staff member to discuss employment and training options, fill out a LEED Council application, and be individually assessed. LEED Council staff will review all information and contact participants within days to recommend enrollment in one of three offered customer service skills classes, direct referral to Kohl's for interview, or other training and employment options that LEED Council provides.
Kohl's strives to be "the leading family-focused, specialty department store offering national brand merchandise to the customer in an environment that is clean, friendly and convenient." Applicants must be: 17 or older; able to pass a drug screen; available to work nights, weekends, and holidays; eligible to work in the U.S.
For over 20 years, LEED Council has played a leadership role on Chicago's Near North Side in retaining businesses and jobs by supporting expansion of businesses. LEED Council has assisted low-income, low-skilled residents throughout Chicago to obtain skills training and jobs, or to start their own businesses.
