Air Force Airman Liesl A. Laurich
Air Force Airman Liesl A. Laurich has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.She is the daughter of Penelope Chlebicki of W. Winnemac Ave. Laurich is a 2004 graduate of Northside College Prep High School.
Army Pfc. Marcus D. Finley
Army Pfc. Marcus D. Finley has graduated from the Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Gordon, Augusta, GA.
The 12-week course is designed to train enlisted soldiers in the installation, operation and unit maintenance of line-of-sight multichannel radio relay and multiplexing equipment used in telephone and telegraph communications systems. The students also receive instruction in electronic countermeasures, signal operating instructions, radio and multiplexing equipment, antennas and power generation equipment.
Finley is the son of Rebbeca D. Finley of N. Wolcott Ave., and brother of Marlon D. Finley of N. Whipple St. The private first class is a 1994 graduate of Kenwood Academy.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Arinda A. Murphy

Murphy is the daughter of Sharon Murphy of N. Racine Ave. In 1998, the airman graduated from Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, Chicago, and in 2003, received an associate degree from Mishawka Community College, Malta, IL.
Johnny S. Raguay
Johnny S. Raguay has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
The sergeant, a vehicle maintenance journeyman with four years of military service, is assigned to the 31st Logistics Readiness Squadron, Aviano Air Base, Italy.
He is the son of Florentin and Martha Cruz Raguay of N. Clark ST. His wife, Christine Rivera-Raguay, is the daughter of Marner and Joy Rivera of W. Argyle St.
Raguay is a 2001 graduate of Lane Technical High School.
Navy Seaman Maria E. Galvan
Navy Seaman Maria E. Galvan, daughter of Lorenza and Jose T. Galvan, recently departed on a routine, scheduled deployment as part of Expeditionary Strike Group 5, while assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Milius, homeported in San Diego.
During the deployment, Galvan and her fellow shipmates helped the Spanish Red Cross to provide clean water for tsunami victims by transporting Spanish water purifiers to a remote area of Indonesia.
USS Milius provides multi-mission offensive and defensive capabilities. The ship and crew perform anti-submarine, air and surface warfare by using the Vertical Launching System, advanced Tomahawk and anti-aircraft missiles and a multi-function phased array radar.
Galvan is a 2003 graduate of Lane Tech High School and joined the Navy in October 2003.
Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Harold Izquierdo
Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Harold Izquierdo and the reserve Sailors of Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Force (NAVELSF), based out of Williamsburg, VA, are currently in the middle of a routine scheduled deployment to Camp Patriot, Kuwait.
Izquierdo's unit is currently working with the Army to provide critical combat logistics support to Soldiers and Marines in Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Izquierdo is a 1975 graduate of Lakeview High School and joined the Navy in June 1975. |
