St. Matthias/Transfiguration School goes wireless

In keeping with its cutting edge curriculum, St. Matthias/Transfiguration School, 4910 N. Claremont Ave., has gone wireless and is providing each seventh and eighth grade student as well as their teachers with individual laptop computers. The school’s two patrons, Michael Ferro, Jr., Chairman & CEO of Click Commerce, and William Lynch, President & CEO of Liam Holdings and former CEO of Leo Burnett, were on hand to officially dedicate the lab earlier this month.
"St. Matthias has a long tradition of providing an excellent education to area students," said Mary Reinhard, principal, St. Matthias/ Transfiguration School. "This new technology is integral to helping today’s students learn critical and creative thinking, problem-solving and collaboration skills that will ensure their success in the changing world of the 21st Century."
The wireless network and laptop computers are just two of the many benefits the Lincoln Square elementary and pre-school has received through the Archdiocesan Big Shoulders Patrons Program. As a Big Shoulders Patrons Program school, St. Matthias/ Transfiguration received a significant financial investment from its two patrons who also helped establish a long-term plan to maintain the school’s educational leadership position in the community.
St. Matthias has a proud history of graduating tomorrow’s leaders. The school’s alumni, many of whom continue to be an active part of the St. Matthias/ Transfiguration community, have included a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, a Major League Baseball general manager, a bank president, physicians, judges, lawyers, teachers, members of the clergy, and many others in positions of leadership in the community.
Founded in 1888, St. Matthias School merged with Transfiguration School in 2002 and continues to remain a vital center of Catholic education on the North Side.
