Advances in Screening for Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer, considered a silent killer because many people do not develop symptoms until the disease is its advanced stages, is one of the most preventable forms of cancer. Saint Joseph Hospital is offering a free lecture, Advances in Screening for Colorectal Cancer , from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, in the Boikan Conference Center of the hospital, 2900 N. Lake Shore Dr. Lawrence Gluskin, M.D., Section Chief, Gastroenterology, will discuss the risk factors for colon cancer, treatment options and the importance of early detection and prevention. Alcohol and drug dependence
What is the difference between alcohol abuse and dependence? Saint Joseph Hospital is offering a free lecture, Understanding and Treating Alcohol and Drug Dependence, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Boikan Conference Center of the hospital, 2900 N. Lake Shore Dr. Department of Psychiatry Chairman Bruce Gober, M.D.; Social Worker Anita Kirsits, L.C.S.W.; Group Psychiatric Therapist Jeffrey Nelson, M.S., C.A.D.C., C.T.R.S.; and Psychiatric Nurse Cassandra Ruhlow, R.N., M.S., L.C.P.C., will discuss how to overcome substance abuse and dependence. Newborn Care
A Newborn Care class is being offered from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, in the Boikan Conference Center of Saint Joseph Hospital, 2900 N. Lake Shore Dr. The class examines the care and needs of newborns and provides moms and their partners with important knowledge for the first months of parenthood. It is highly recommended for new parents and is also an excellent class for grandparents, nannies and other caregivers. There is a $15 fee and space is limited. Pursuit of Happiness older adult program
Would you like to find happiness? Saint Joseph Hospital is offering a free lecture, The Pursuit of Happiness, from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in the Boikan Conference Center of the hospital, 2900 N. Lake Shore Dr. Fabian Carbonell, M.D., Psychiatrist, will discuss the impact of psychological stressors and techniques to help lead a satisfying life.
