In other home news, the Planning Committee of the Mid-North Association has reviewed plans for a very large replacement single-family home for 401 W. Dickens Ave. Because no zoning variation was required and no landmark building was being altered, and because the Planned Development Ordinance for The Pointe would allow the new structure, there was little to which the Committee could object. However, they were successful in getting the owner to eliminate the request for a 48-foot long passenger drop-off zone on Dickens Avenue and to reduce the proposed width of the driveway from 18 feet to 10 feet.
Also, the Committee reviewed proposed plans for 2325 N. Orchard St. which call for de-conversion of the front and rear buildings from a total of five rental units into one single family residence with three new garage spaces (which will replace the former grade-level, rear rental unit). The plans call for a small two-story addition to the existing house, a narrow second-story connecting link to the rear building, and a patio on the roof of the rear building. The Committee had no objections to the plans except for the construction of a roof-top pergola, which the owner agreed to delete. The committee also gained the owner's promise to make the fence around the roof-top patio "open." |
