Gordon Tech drama students get practical advice

Advice from a pro

Jennifer Friedman, center, a professional actress, gave some practical advice to students in drama classes at Gordon Tech High School during a recent visit. Listening intently are, from left, Toni Yambao; Roberto DelRio; Ed Mireles, drama instructor at Gordon Tech; Friedman; Sarah Tobin, practice teacher in drama at Gordon Tech; Cosme Regalado and Jeff Havey. After attending the University of Virginia, where she studied biology and received her theatre training, Friedman has worked in numerous theatres in the Chicago area. She won the Joseph Jefferson Award in 1998 for her portrayal of Laura in "The Glass Menagerie," by Tennessee Williams. "This was a great experience for our students," said Mireles. "We saw and heard how an actress prepares for a role and what is involved in a successful audition."
