Editors of the newly published Encyclopedia of Chicago will review highlights of the making of the 1,100-page reference book on Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Sulzer Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave.
James R. Grossman, vice president for research and education of the Newberry Library, and Ann Durkin Keating, professor of history at North Central College, will tell of challenges involved in the 10-year, $1.7 million project at the evening program sponsored by the Ravenswood-Lake View Historical Association.
The encyclopedia with 1,400 entries and 400 maps has been praised as "the most comprehensive reference book on the Chicago region ever published."
