OWL: Midlife & Beyond
Issues raised in the series of books called "Chicken Soup for the Soul" will be discussed by members of the Northeast Chapter of OWL (Older Women’s League) at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Merlo Branch Library, 644 W. Talent Call for Scrap Mettle SOUL
Scrap Mettle SOUL (SMS), a community performance organization, announces its talent call for the world premiere of "The Heart of Our Soul: Stories of Urban Lives." For 10 years, Scrap Mettle SOUL has been committed to an ongoing process of annually creating new performance pieces – professionally produced plays based on locally gathered oral histories of the people of Chicago’s Uptown/ Edgewater community, performed by the people of the community, and presented for the people of the community.
Senior groups merge
The senior groups of Ravenswood Covenant Church and the Fifty Plus Seniors have joined forces and had their first combined meeting to which three dozen seniors came. Their motto is, "The More, The Merrier," and they invite you to join them for some of their upcoming meetings which are held Fridays at 11 a.m. at 4900 N. Damen Ave. Bring your own bag lunch and enjoy interesting programs and live entertainment for $3 per meeting, which covers the cost of coffee, tea and miscellaneous expenses.

Theodore Bikel at Anshe Emet
Internationally renowned Broadway and Hollywood star Theodore Bikel will make a rare Chicago appearance, headlining the fourth Annual Dr. Arnold Kaplan, M.D. Memorial Concert on Sunday, March 13, at 2:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary of Anshe Emet Synagogue, 3751 N. Broadway.
Mr. Bikel will be joined by Anshe Emet Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi and several top Chicago-area musicians for a lively afternoon of Jewish folk music from around the world.

Irish School returns to IAHC
The first Irish School in the Chicago area will resume classes at the Irish American Heritage Center on March 26.
On Saturday mornings, from 9 a.m. to noon, children will have fun learning about Irish heritage, customs, language, art and music through drama, story telling, crafts and games. Classes are geared for children ages 6-14 years old. The cost for the classes is $60. The winter session begins March 26 and runs through April 30. High School Music Competition
Please join the Rembrandt Chamber Players as they present their 10th Annual High School Chamber Music Competition, on Sunday, March 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Walter Payton College Prep High School, 1034 N. Wells St. Ensembles representing private, public, and home school high schools from the Chicago area as well as from South Bend, IN, and Kenosha, WI, will compete for the opportunity to perform in the Rembrandt Chamber Player May 15-16 Subscription Concerts, as well as a $500 cash prize. Free orchestra concert
The Protégé Philharmonic of Chicago will present a free concert on Sunday, March 13, at 3 p.m. in Preston Bradley Hall, the Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. Joseph Glymph, Music Director, will conduct. Musical selections include: Berlioz: Roman Carnival Overture; Dvorak: Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op. 88; Resphighi: Fountains of Rome; and Ibert: Concerto for Flute and Orchestra.

Public Policy Luncheon
The City Club of Chicago welcomes Hon. Paul P. Biebel , Jr. Presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, on Tuesday, March 22, for a Public Policy Luncheon.
