From Gershwin’s “Someone To Watch Over Me” to Tina Turner’s "What’s Love Got To Do With It,” "RESPECT: A Musical Journey of Women," an acclaimed musical review celebrating women through American popular music, makes its Chicago premiere at the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts, 777 N. Green St. (at the corner of Green St. and Chicago Ave.), beginning Wednesday, March 23. Tickets can be purchased for performances through Sunday, May 15.
The show chronicles the lives of women throughout the 20th century, as played out against the songs they were listening to during various periods in their lives. The musical features an ensemble cast of four, a live band, and more than 60 songs, including “I Wanna Be Loved By You,” “Tonight You Belong to Me,” “Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend,” “Whatever Lola Wants,” “These Boots are made for Walking,” “ Born a Woman,” “ I Will Survive,” “Hero,” and “Video.”
