St. Scholastica Academy's annual SpringFest fundraising event will feature the stories and songs of America's favorite Motown, gospel, and R&B artists with Black Ensemble Theater on Saturday, April 9, at 7 p.m. Pictured are some of the memorable groups whose dynamic music and style Springfest will recapture. The public is encouraged to attend the event, to be held in the Academy's auditorium, 7416 N. Ridge Blvd. in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood. Tickets are $40 and include homemade appetizers by Academy families and a cash bar. Tickets are available for purchase through St. Scholastica Academy students or by calling (773) 764-5715, ext. 363. St. Scholastica Academy accepts Visa and MasterCard.
Black Ensemble Theater is one of the most respected and patronized theater companies in Chicago. The 28-year-old theater company specializes in creating and producing original musical biographies of great artists such as Jackie Wilson, Diana Ross & the Supremes, Dinah Washington, Otis Redding, and Mahalia Jackson.
SpringFest 2005 hopes to raise over $75,000 for the education of young women, particularly to prepare them for the demands of college and to educate them in the Fine Arts. SpringFest features a night of entertainment and a silent auction for over 600 guests. The event is sponsored by the Academy's Parents' Association.
St. Scholastica Academy is seeking donations to underwrite the costs of the event as well as silent auction donations. Needed silent auction items include Motown CDs, vintage 1950s and 1960s items, gift certificates to restaurants and stores, sporting event tickets, airline tickets/miles, and museum passes.
To give cash donations, product donations of wine, beer, and soda, or donations to the silent auction, please contact Amanda J. Holman, Director of Special Events and Communications, at 773-764-5715, ext. 363 or at aholman@scholastica.us. |
