Seminar on Chicago Bungalow Landscapes

You may know how to rehab the inside of your bungalow, but do you know how to beautify the outside? The free seminar titled Landscaping your Bungalow with Naturalistic Design is designed to do just that, giving you great ideas for your lawn and garden. The seminar will take place 7 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave.
Brian Shea, a landscape architect with Voltaire's Gardener, will show the transformation of dirt into a lovely landscape and teach you how to do it with before and after pictures. You'll get an overview of the design process, tips on installation and the opportunity to ask questions and get answers from an industry professional. Space is limited, so reservations are necessary. Call (312) 642-9900 or email the HCBA at bungalow@chicagobungalow.org to make a reservation or get further details.
The Bungalow Initiative was launched in 2000 as an effort to preserve the City's architecturally significant bungalows, which comprise nearly one-third of the single-family housing in Chicago. Since then, over 6,000 bungalows have been certified and more than 1,300 families have received grants and vouchers assisting them with restoration.
The Chicago bungalow is the 1 1/2 story single-family brick home that dominates many of the City's distinct neighborhoods, forming the Bungalow Belt. Most were built more than 75 years ago.
