Art auction to benefit no-kill animal shelter

Tree House Animal Foundation presents the second annual Art for Animals art auction 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4. The auction will feature dozens of artists, door prizes, a quartet of professional classical musicians, complimentary wine, appetizers from Papagus Greek Taverna, and cookies from Poppie’s Cookies. The silent auction will run throughout the evening, and the live auction will begin at 7 p.m. The artwork will consist of a wide variety of styles and subject matters, all at very affordable prices.

Proceeds from the art auction will benefit Tree House Animal Foundation’s low-cost spay/neuter clinic, as well as the many programs and services offered to the surrounding community. Tree House is Chicagoland’s largest cageless, no-kill shelter for injured, sick, and abused stray cats. More than 10,200 cats have been adopted since its founding in 1971. Tree House also provides an animal food pantry for low-income families, a volunteer-driven animal-assisted therapy program for the infirm and elderly, and an educational outreach program to local schools to educate children on the benefits of a human/animal relationship.

The event will be held at the HotHouse, 31 E. Balbo St., with a $10 donation at the door. RSVP to Dave at (773) 784-5488, ext. 230. Donations can also be sent to Tree House at 1212 W. Carmen Ave., Chicago, IL 60640.
