St. Vincent de Paul Center has received its first grant from the Hearst Foundation: $60,000 that is to be used mainly in support of the Center’s day care and social services programs. The Hearst Foundation, with offices in New York, makes grants in the areas of education, health, social service and culture and seeks to assist institutions in providing opportunities to underserved and underrepresented populations.
In the past three months, the Center has also received first-time grants from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Foundation ($5,000), the Arie and Ida Crown Memorial ($10,000) and the Kraft Employee Fund Chicago ($10,000).
The Topfer Family Foundation, based in Austin, TX, renewed its support at the $50,000 level; the Emergency Fund, Chicago, continues to support the Center’s Outreach Program at a level of $20,000-$25,000 per year; and the Dr. Scholl Foundation, Northbrook, awarded the Center a grant ($5,000) for the 14th consecutive year.
The center also received a $25,000 grant from the Col. Stanley R. McNeil Foundation, Chicago and significant grants from the Walsh Foundation, Chicago, and the Lee & Florence Casty Philanthropic Fund of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. |
