An armed robbery at McDonald's, 5130 N. Sheridan Rd., netted $700 and left one man injured in the early morning hours of Friday, April 15. At 2:55 a.m., a male employee went out the rear door to dispose of garbage. Apparently two male offenders struck him on the head, knocking him unconscious and leaving a gash, and then tossed him into the dumpster.
The men then entered the restaurant via the rear door. They displayed a handgun, pushed an employee to the ground and demanded money. The victim went to the vault and surrendered approximately $700.
The offenders fled out the rear door and the victim contacted police. He told police that one employee was missing; police conducted a search and located the man in the dumpster after 20-30 minutes. He was transported to Weiss Hospital by Ambulance 31, treated and released.
The two offenders were 5’6", 200 lb., wearing black caps, black sweatshirts and white pants. The getaway car was possibly a gray boxy Chevy, such as a 1980s Chevy Caprice. An evidence technician was summoned. |
