Pappas names Krause Honorary Deputy Cook County Treasurer

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas named Herb Krause, former owner of A. F. Meyer Delicatessen in Lincoln Square, as Honorary Deputy Cook County Treasurer. The honor was bestowed at a celebration of German culture and heritage in Pappas’ office in downtown Chicago. After 30 years, Krause retired in 1990 as proprietor of the famed Meyer Deli. Today he is a sales representative for a beer firm and is Germany’s Roving Ambassador. Pappas said she named Krause Honorary Deputy Treasurer because of his spirit, generosity and involvement in German community affairs. Friends and associates of Krause came to the celebration.
