Cubs Care hands out $781,500 for shelter, food, health care, baseball

Cubs Care, the charitable beneficiary of the Chicago Cubs, on April 26 announced its distribution of $781,500 in grants to non-profit organizations throughout the Chicagoland area.
Since 1991, Cubs Care has given more than $9 million to Chicago area charities. The fund supports youth baseball, softball and sports programs, children with special needs and domestic violence shelters for women and their children in Chicago. Charitable agencies in the Lake View community have also received grants from Cubs Care.
Events such as the annual Cubs Convention, Tours of Wrigley Field, sales of Cubs "Believe" wristbands and private donations are some of the ways Cubs Care raises funds. This summer, Cubs Care will once again offer its Cubs Care Rookie League Baseball program at over 90 Chicago Park District sites.
