On Sunday, May 29, the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation will shut down Lake Shore Drive to vehicular traffic from 5 until 10:30 a.m. in order to host the fourth annual Bike The Drive, a bicycle tour on Lake Shore Drive from Hollywood Ave. to 57th St. During this time, all vehicular traffic will be re-routed off the affected areas of Lake Shore Drive to local streets. Vehicles will have restricted access to selected museums and harbors in the affected areas. Other areas that will allow through traffic include: southbound from Roosevelt to I-55, in westernmost lane; northbound from the I-55 feeder to 18th Street, in easternmost lane; southbound from I-55 to 31st Street, in westernmost lane.
Bike the Drive is the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s biggest fundraiser and occurs on the Sunday of each Memorial Day Weekend.
