Tasting for Charity...
This year, the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Chicago is putting on a "really great show." While raising money for the disabled community, guests attending the Friday, June 3, party called "Great Chefs 2005: A Tasting Party From Surf to Turf" will get a taste to remember.
The Great Chefs extravaganza will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 E. North Water St., and will begin with a cocktail tasting from 5:15 until 6 p.m. But it’s only the beginning!
A silent auction begins when the doors open and runs to 8:30 p.m. with some fantastic items.
The evening continues with an incredible dinner prepared by some of Chicago’s greatest chefs from top restaurants and it will be a food lover’s delight. Here’s a sampling of some of the 40 participating restaurants. You’ll have to judge what you like best from your own "tasting."
Restaurants include Adobo Grill, China Grill, Gibson's, Harry Caray's, Meritage, Roy’s, Rosebud and many others. Guests will nibble on many multicultural appetizers, entrees and desserts. Soft drinks, coffee, some beer, wine, spirits, are also included. Plus each guest will receive a souvenir program/cookbook.
Event co-chairs David Lissner, host of "Dining Chicago," and Chef Tom Kenny, Executive Chef at Mike Ditka’s Restaurant, have put together quite an evening. It will be emceed by Dutchie Caray of Harry Caray’s Restaurant and Eileen Byrne of WGN radio, and if you love food you simply need to be there.
So save your appetite for a selection of great food that includes: Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche, Steak Sandwiches, Roasted Rack of Lamb, and Porcini Crusted Halibut plus more, more and more.
Tickets are available at the door at varied prices. A "beachside table" ticket (open seating) is $85 and a "poolside" ticket (reserved)is $90.
To reserve an entire table, it is imperative to make a reservation. A "Marina Table" (reserved seating for 10) is $850 and the "Yacht Club Premiere Table" (also reserved for 10 but includes lots more) is $1300.

All proceeds benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the independence of children and adults with disabilities in Cook and surrounding counties.
Opening Night VIP Gala...
Many lucky VIPs and guests will get to see the brand new Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place for a very special reason. Those attending the gala will be one of the first to see the new 549-seat theater and its first production of the musical comedy "The Full Monty."
It all happens on Friday, May 20, at 8 p.m. thanks to the Theatre School of DePaul University with producer Anthony DeSantis and Drury Lane Theatre, 175 E. Chestnut St.
After the performance, guests can attend the special VIP post-show champagne reception with the cast at the Carlton Club at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, next door.
Although the show has opened in previews, the official opening night is at the DePaul benefit. The show continues through Sunday, July 10.
Interested in attending the gala and show that was nominated for 10 Tony Awards? Of course you are! To purchase a ticket ($100) call (312) 642-2000. Money raised is earmarked for The Theatre School’s Scholarship Fund.
If for some reason the Gala is sold out, there are tickets available for other nights for the show only. A ticket ranges in price from $40-$48. Individual tickets can be purchased at the Box Office (located in the theater’s lobby) at 175 E. Chestnut St., at (312) 642-2000 or at Ticketmaster.
