Mayor Richard M. Daley presented Chicagoland Caregivers’
employee Clara Smith with a Citizenship Award, in recognition for her community involvement, at a recent celebration. The City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations Advisory Council on Women invited Ms. Smith, along with leaders from around the city and world, to celebrate women’s contributions to the community.
Clara Smith joined the Chicagoland Caregivers’ team in April 2004, bringing her talents for caring and helping others to her professional work as a senior caregiver. Ms. Smith has worked as a 24-hour "live-in" caregiver for two of Chicagoland Caregivers’ clients. She stays with these seniors overnight, assisting them with their personal care, meals and daily activities. "She has done a wonderful job of handling both of these complex cases," said Julie Northcutt, president, Chicagoland Caregivers.
Ms. Smith serves as President of the Evergreen Tenant’s Association, as Beat facilitator of CAPS Beat 1821, as a member of the 18th District Advisory Council, as a 27th Ward Worker Bee and as a Parent Patroller for the George Manierre Elementary School. In addition to her many community activities, Ms. Smith takes great pride in her
accomplishment of raising a fine son who will graduate from Bradley University this May.
Chicagoland Caregivers assists seniors to remain independent in their homes by providing part-time and full-time caregivers. A Case Manager actively supervises the caregiver and the care. For more information, visit
