Raven Theatre presents Irish drama

Depression, bipolar support
"Defeating depression: Adolescence to adulthood" is the topic of the Sixth Annual Symposium presented by the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance of Greater Chicago (DBSA-GC), on Saturday, May 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Truman College, 1145 W. Wilson Ave. Parking is free in the Truman Lot — enter through 4522 N. Broadway (under Beck’s Books sign).
Registration fees, which include lunch, are $25 members and students, $45 non-members. There is a partial scholarship for DBSA volunteers; and symposium attendance can qualify for five CEUs, for LCSWs and LCPCs only.

Irish music jam
The Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox Ave., continues its Sunday Afternoon Music Sessions in the Fifth Province Pub. The free, family-friendly sessions will take place on the second Sunday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. The next session is Sunday, June 12. Students of Noel Rice’s Academy of Irish Music will be the featured performers each month, playing traditional Irish music. Monolophosaurus
An early theropod that lived 170 million years ago, in the Jurassic period, the Monolophosaurus was quite large and would have been a fearsome opponent. Its name means " single-crest lizard," and the crest on its skull might have been useful in attracting a mate or warning off other dinosaurs. This 7.5-foot high, 16.5-foot long cast will be on display at The Field Museum’s Dinosaur Dynasty: Discoveries from China, running May 27 through April 23, 2006. Memory loss, first love
Umberto Eco, esteemed essayist and author of "The Name of the Rose," discusses his newest work, "The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana," at a Chicago Humanities Festival event. Enjoy a reading and discussion of this new graphic novel. In a detour from his usual erudite historical novels, "The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana" takes place in contemporary Italy and follows an aging book dealer who has mysteriously lost his memory.
Eco presents his new novel on Friday, June 10, at 7 p.m. at Northwestern University School of Law, Thorne Auditorium, 375 E. Chicago Ave. Book sales and signing follow the program.

National Tap Dance Day Celebration
Chicago Human Rhythm Project celebrates National Tap Dance Day with a weekend of concerts May 19-22 at the Vittum Theatre, 1012 N. Noble St. Diane Walker will host the performances with special guest Jimmy Slyde (schedule permitting), a featured dancer in the movie "Tap" with Gregory Hines.
