Taking it to community for Men's Health Week

As a participant in National Men's Health Week (June 13-18, 2005), the Near North Health Service Corporation (NNHSC) plans to reach as many men as possible to ensure a good health pattern is a part of their daily lives.
Each year, NNHSC hosts a system-wide Men's Health Week, the entire week before Father's Day, where men are invited to get free healthcare services. Health services, lively discussions, healthy cooking demonstrations and haircuts are among the many services available every day during the week of June 13-17 at each of the NNHSC Health Centers. The North Side center, called Winfield Moody, is located at 1276 N. Clybourn Ave.; call (312) 337-1073.
This year, there's a new twist. On the North Side, staff will be at Seward Park (Division and Clybourn avenues) on Thursday, June 16, 4-7 p.m., to bring Men's Health Week to those not able to visit the NNHSC Health Centers.
Whether you come to the Health Center (9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday) or to the park, these services are free. There's no reason not to take advantage. In fact, there are many reasons why you should be a part of this weeklong celebration of good health habits - the primary reason is a better, healthier you.
A kick-off Comedy for a Cause fundraiser will be held on Sunday, June 12, at Joe's Sports Bar (940 W. Weed St.) with leading comedians, hosted by Damon Williams. The cost for this event is $25 and tickets may be purchased from Winfield Moody Health Center or at the door - doors open at 7 p.m.
On Friday, June 17, from 1 to 3 p.m., a special For Men Only Round Table discussion will take place at Winfield Moody Health Center. Men will be able to freely discuss health issues and concerns.
Near North Health Service Corporation is a 39-year-old, not-for-profit community health organization with Health Centers and Nutrition Education sites located throughout the city.
