Work on Clark St. streetscape, Phase II, to get underway

Yesterday, June 7, the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce and Ald. Vi Daley (43rd) held a meeting at Sunrise Assisted Living, 2710 N. Clark St., to unveil plans for Phase II of the Streetscape Plans for Clark St. Phase II will cover the section between St. James Place (2520 north) and Diversey Ave. (2800 north), featuring the widening of sidewalks, better lighting, new trash receptacles, hanging flower baskets, planters and trees. The contract was awarded yesterday, and the contractor spent the day seeking space to rent, since he must have an office on site. The project, which will take four months, will begin either on June 21 or July 5. The earlier start date would offer an earlier finish date, but it would have the drawback of construction obstacles over the July 4 weekend, a three-day period when no work would be going on.
