Coyne American Institute, one of the nation's oldest career training and technical schools, is unveiling its newly constructed, custom-built downtown location during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16. Coyne has graduated and placed thousands of students in the Chicagoland area and throughout the country. They first opened their doors in 1899 at 1235 W. Fullerton Ave., but outgrew the space. The new facility at 330 N. Green St. will enable Coyne to provide cutting edge technical training to a greater number of students in a more spacious and superior environment.
The ceremony will take place in Coyne American Institute (atrium), 330 N. Green St. This new location is in the Fulton Market District of Chicago's Near West Side.
Invited guests include Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Mayor Richard Daley, Sen. Richard Durbin, Sen. Barack Obama, Congressman Danny Davis, local and national dignitaries, representatives from the Mayor's Office of Workforce Development, current students and alumni.
Russell Freeman, president of Coyne American Institute, will lead the short ceremony that will include remarks from various invited guests. School tours will take place immediately after the ribbon cutting.
