Letter to the Editor - Celebrating dance & diversity

To the Editor:
Many thanks to Ed Lowe and Mary Corrado for spreading the word about one of Chicago's best-kept secrets: the largest dance education program in the city is inside the Old Town School of Folk Music! ["Former Bakery slated to become bustling dance center in Lincoln
Square," Inside, May 18-24, 2005] But with the Dance and Movement Program's faculty and student populations comprising the School's most diverse group (in age, ethnic origin, race, geographic location, and income level), it says "celebration" much more clearly than "gentrification," don't you think? I'm proud that a program as unique as Old Town School's is right here in my neighborhood (if I do say so myself)!
P. S. Happy International Tap Dance Day!
